About Us

After seeing a need for a 2-year old preschool program in Morganton, several members of North Morganton United Methodist Church (UMC) formed a board of directors and began to develop the foundations of what would become our now beloved Wee School. Our Wee School has nurtured the growth of many children and their families in the Morganton area since opening in 2005.
After beginning with a single 2-year old class, we have seen our program flourish to now offer classes for 2, 3, and 4 year olds. Wee School fosters a warm and engaging atmosphere where children begin their early education. The school has a volunteer board of directors and is managed by Sharon Swinson, our Program Director. It is truly a special place for children to grow socially, intellectually and spiritually!

Testimonials from Our Parents...
“My oldest child began attending pmo as an 18 month old. The caregivers at NMUMC were always loving and attentive. They incorporated many social activities, crafts, games, and even early education! He loved his pmo experiences. I loved it so much the next two children attended as well! We've since aged out but love to pop in for a visit from time to time! PMO gives you just the right amount of free time and is the perfect way to introduce your child to a caring social and educational environment!” –Larisa S.
"I used NMUMC Wee School for 7 years! My girls loved the program, and I highly recomment it!" -Stacey R.
"All three of our children went to North Morganton Methodist Church. We were welcomed with warmth, love, guidance and friendship. Our kids all begged to be there and still hold it close to their hearts even today. So many times I would show up and they would want to stay longer!! What a wonderful feeling." -Kara J.
"Wee School is not only a place where children learn, but also a place where children can feel safe, valued, and loved. My two girls had the privilege of attending. Having adopted them internationally from orphanage settings, we needed to find a loving environment that would help them feel secure while away from us, yet challenge them to become more independent and social. We found that and so much more here. The teachers, other parents and children became part of our extended family and played an important role in shaping our girls confidence. We are proud to be part of the Wee School family and happy to have such precious memories of our girls' early years."-Sharon and Randy M.
"My son went to wee school for all three years and LOVED it. He made some special friends, and his amazing teachers more than prepared him for Kindergarten."-Kelly H.
"As the school year draws to an end and my youngest son graduates from Wee School, we as a family close a chapter in our lives. My oldest son was in the very first class at Wee School and being a first time parent I was skeptical of leaving him with just anyone! The people there aren't just anyone, they are part of our family now! My children have grown and learned so much with this wonderful group of women and I owe them many thanks!"-April H.
